Cooking Counts

Cooking Counts Image 2This is a six week program designed to empower families with the skills, knowledge and confidence to prepare healthy and affordable meals. It teaches families how to select nutritious and low-cost ingredients and prepare them in ways that provide the best nourishment possible for their families.

Cooking Counts! Is offered three times a year, spring, summer and fall. It is provided in partnership with Penn State Extension/Nutrition Links and uses a research-based curriculum, Eating Smart and Moving More. Each participant receives the food and recipe to take home and cook for their families along with some basic cooking utensils to use in their kitchen. During the last class, participants receive a gift certificate and go with their instructors to a local grocery store to shop for a meal.
